About This Oil

Organic Patchouli Essential Oil is steam-distilled from the dried leaves of Pogostemon cablin, a bushy herb of the mint family native to tropical Asia. One of the most recognisable aromas in natural perfumery, patchouli has a rich, earthy, and warmly complex scent that deepens and improves with age — making it a prized base note and fragrance fixative in both fine fragrances and natural beauty formulations.

Fragrance Profile

Patchouli opens with a grounded, herbaceous earthiness and develops into a warm, rich, musky base with gentle sweet undertones. It is one of the most distinctive and long-lasting aromas in the essential oil world. It pairs beautifully with bergamot, rose, sandalwood, vetiver, ylang-ylang, orange, and cedarwood.

Aromatherapy

Add 4–6 drops to your diffuser for a warm, rich, earthy fragrance that creates a cosy, grounded atmosphere. Patchouli is a popular choice for autumn and winter diffuser blends and works beautifully layered with orange, frankincense, and clove.

Skin Care

Patchouli Oil is a popular ingredient in facial oils, body butters, and moisturisers, adding a distinctive aromatic dimension to any blend. Dilute with your preferred carrier oil — tamanu, rosehip, or mango seed butter are excellent companions — before applying to skin.

Perfumery

One of the most widely used base notes in natural perfumery. Even at 0.5–1% concentration, patchouli adds remarkable depth, richness, and longevity to any fragrance composition.

Hair Care

Add 1–2 drops to a tablespoon of warm carrier oil for a richly aromatic hair oil ritual.
